Gentlemen,
Busy day for me today, so I'm filling the space with GIF's.
Before I get into the usual stuff, just a quick reminder: Friday, November 14 is our official trade deadline. That gives you 12 days (including today to make any and all deals for this year).
Who wants to make a deal?
Team Names
Ok... this was not our best. Three people didn't change their names at all (Coconuts is still rocking his Dark Horse name from weeks ago), and some of the other ones were just kinda dumb, including my own.
I didn't have the time to dig into the annals of former team names, but I'm almost positive that both Drew's Pubes and Broten's Speakers have been used before. Mea culpa... And Andy used a name to make fun of himself, which is something that only Kenni does.
Not every name was bad. I did appreciate some of the ones that took shots at fellow league mates, specifically the whiny texts that we've all grown to love.
Let's try this again. Same topic this week: BOTT Possessive Nouns. If you already changed your name and you like it, by all means keep it. I will be changing mine because I sucked this week.
The Games
Going with similar format to last week... here's the headlines.
Coconuts (95.74) narrowly leads Jerks (88.58) in the only game still in doubt. Juan is done while I have Moncrief going tonight. Rivers scored -2.18pts for Juan. Terrible weeks for both of us. One of us is going to get the cheapest of wins.
Kenni (139.90) is rolling Crapswell (116.54). Roethlisberger throws for another 6 TD's and Kenni still had Luck tonight. Some other guys are playing for both teams, but who cares. Kenni should get Points Bonus, and suddenly looks like a legit contender.
Fredricks (112.12) beats Crabs (85.12). Bill still has Hilton/Allen going to pile on tonight. He is quietly climbing the standings... Crabs started Romo, and still got more from him than Philip Rivers.
Titwarmer (129.72) upsets Dallus (119.04). Big win for Ned, keeping his postseason chances very much alive against one of the best teams in the league. Mike Evans (26.4), the season-saver. The loss will drop Dallus to 3rd place.
Gow (145.08) continues his march, crushing Whitebread (96.92). Since his lone loss in Wk 3, Gow has averaged 153pts through the last 6 weeks. Dominant. Whitebread still has Eli to get him points tonight, something he's going to need for any hope of the postseason.
Yahoo has Juan as a 64% favorite. Assuming that plays out, here's a look at tomorrow's standings:
Place | Team | Record |
1st | Gow | 8-1 |
2nd | Kenni | 7-2 |
3rd | Dallus | 6-3 |
4th | Jerks | 5-4 |
5th | Fredricks | 4-5 |
6th | Crapswell | 4-5 |
7th | Titwarmer | 3-6 |
8th | Coconuts | 3-6 |
9th | Crabs | 3-6 |
10th | Whitebread | 2-7 |
If I pull out the victory, my place will actually remain unchanged, as Dallus has the points edge over me. A loss for Juan would likely drop him down to 10th.
Power Rankings will come out this week, but I can already tell you Gow is going to justify his spot. And despite a ridiculously easy schedule, Kenni's team is also proving to be the real deal...
Tonight
Are we going somewhere new or aren't we?
I'm obviously biased, but I'd prefer to not have to haul all the way up to the West End for whatever Whitebread suggested. I can get downtown faster than I can get over there... I'm actually fine with Senser's and I just want a place I can get to quickly since I'm already coming late.
That's my 2 cents, but I'm willing to listen to whatever people want. Also keep in mind that I probably only have one or two more of these for the rest of the season. So if you want to try something more West/North, there will be ample opportunities to do so without me whining.
Here's our list that we've discussed so far, but we can add:
I wouldn't even even commuting to somewhere in South Minneapolis area, for a good place. I went to the Blue Door Pub in Longfellow recently and would wholeheartedly recommend it. Not sure if people would want to go there. But their Jucy Lucy's were amazing. If I could throw out one non-standard idea, this would be it.
Let's discuss this afternoon, and make a decision by the time people are leaving work.
See you tonight, boys.
It seems like a change is needed. Blue Door (Longfellow) is close for me, so that would be my vote. Nice non-traditional pick Jerks. But Poor Richards and BWW (Southdale) are cool with me too.
ReplyDeleteAlso, nice blog post. I liked the theme.
ReplyDeleteI'm not entirely opposed to Sensers. Free popcorn and the service above average. I can't see how Poor Dick's is gonna be any better than Sensers, but I'm up for it just to be open minded. Speaking of open minded, I say poo poo to some foo-foo west place.
ReplyDeleteI was going to go as Bill Lumburgh for Halloween but didn't have the Initech mug...instead I had to go as white trash. thanks for rubbing it in.
Does the blue door have the game with sound? My main concern for MNF is actually being able to watch and hear the game. I'm craving some wingy's right now, so that old retread BWW, would be my vote.
ReplyDeleteOk so we have 3 votes and 3 different choices. This had been productive.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Whitebread is suspiciously quiet...
The blue door menu looks delicious, but again, what's the deal with TV's and Sound?
